Age limit: 8-18
The contest encourages young students to write poetry based on a theme which changes each year. Educators are invited to submit original poems written by their students. Students in grades 3-12 are guided only by an annual theme. Submissions can be written in any style. Poems are judged within grade categories:
- Grades 3-5 (8-11 years old)
- Grades 6-8 (11-14 years old)
- Grades 9-12 (14-18 years old)
There are these awards per category: First, Second, and Third Place, Honourable Mention, and People's Choice.
Winning poets are then invited to share their work at a celebration in their honour. No cash prizes, more for recognition.
